Joseph Gamble and I had the pleasure of taking our second year professional photography students to see an exhibit of Ansel Adams photographs at the Quintenz Gallery in Aspen, Colorado as part of a gallery and museum tour we did during the first week of classes. Many of the most iconic Adams images were on display and it was quite an experience for students to see original prints from a master they had studied in their history of photography class.
As a young, aspiring landscape photographer, I visited Yosemite Valley while I was in college. Seeing the actual landscapes he photographed and the original prints on the same trip is an experience that has resonated with me for years. I hope that some of our students look back on this experience and have similar memories. It is truly a privilege to be in such a beautiful, rocky mountain location and still have access to high culture because of our proximity to Aspen.
