Radio CMC gets closer to students with second studio at Spring Valley Campus

Radio CMC just got a brand new studio, in addition to the one in Glenwood Springs, at the Colorado Mountain College campus at Spring Valley. The radio station has been broadcasting to the Roaring Fork Valley and online since 2011, thanks to students, instructors, sponsors and local partnerships.

The radio station has been a powerful tool for Isaacson School for New Media students to create, record and broadcast audio content such as radio shows, interviews, podcasts and music. The two studios are equipped with recording and editing software professional mixing boards, microphones, pre amps and a remote broadcasting kit, so students can master all aspects of radio production.

Currently, Radio CMC has around twenty students actively contributing with original content and operations as interns, volunteers and paid staff, as well as members of the community and Colorado Mountain College instructors. They are all involved in the production of a variety of shows about music, news, films, entertainment, life style, business, entrepreneurship and other topics.

White Noise, Box Office Report, Strongly Disagree, Not So Cool Kids, Rusty Metal, L Squad, We’ll Always Have Movies, Chillin’ with Lilian, The Nutty Show, Déjà vu and Firejam Fridays are some of the regular original shows currently on air. Most content created in class by students of the Sound Design classes is also broadcasted.

With the new studio at the Spring Valley campus, Radio CMC will be even closer to students, since this is the campus for the majority of Isaacson School of New Media classes and facilities. The goal is to get even more students involved with radio, that features some of the most unique and exciting local content in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Radio CMC is broadcast at 93.9 FM in Glenwood Springs, 102.7 FM in Aspen, 93.1 FM in Basalt and El Jebel, digitally on 93.9 HD2 in Carbondale and online at radiocmc.com. Exclusive content is also available at soundcloud.com/radiocmc. For more information or requests, visit radiocmc.com/contact, or email Lucas Turner, at lturner@coloradomtn.edu.
